Food Chain: Cut and Paste

Build a food chain with this hands-on worksheet for kindergarteners and first graders! To start, students will cut out four images at the bottom of the page, each of which belongs to a spot in the food chain. By reading the descriptions in each box, learners will determine which picture goes where to create their food chain.

Ordering organisms in a food chain will help students understand how living things depend on each other for food. Food chains also illustrate that an environment is made of many different relationships between plants, animals, and nonliving things. This practice will prepare students to learn about habitat-specific food chains and more complex food webs.
