Fun With Short A CVC Words
Cats, bats, and hats—oh my! Practice writing short A words in this kindergarten phonics worksheet! First, students will look at six pictures and fill in the missing letter to make a short A CVC word that matches each picture. Then, they’ll write short A words from pictures all on their own. Finally, they will color in all of the short A words, making sure to avoid words with other vowel sounds.
This worksheet is perfect for students who are beginning to read and spell short words with simple vowel sounds. The ability to identify, read, and write CVC words is an important skill for early readers, forming the foundation for recognizing more complex sounds and decoding unfamiliar words.
