Nouns can be split into two categories: common nouns and proper nouns. As their name suggests, most nouns kids come across in their reading are common nouns: a person, place, or thing. Kids read the nouns and sort them into the right category by writing "common" or "proper" next to them. Here's a hint: proper nouns are always capitalized!
