Worksheet

Identify and Write Similes

Try your hand at writing similes with this third-grade worksheet! To start, students will read each of eight sentences and underline the simile. Learners must pay attention, though, as not every sentence contains a simile! Then, students will finish each simile in part two with a word or phrase.

This worksheet will prompt students to recognize comparisons using like or as. Figurative language can challenge learners to use descriptive vocabulary to creatively express ideas, allowing for more detailed and engaging writing. Students will also be able to identify and analyze figurative language in passages, songs, and more.

Keep sharpening those simile skills with Mixed Practice: Similes and Metaphors #1. Students can practice another type of figurative language with Follow the Path: Onomatopoeia #1.
