Identify Congruent Figures Using Transformations

If two figures are congruent, you can map one of the figures onto the other figure using one or more of the following types of transformations: translations, rotations, and reflections. This eighth-grade geometry worksheet helps students learn this concept using an example problem identifying the transformations that map a figure onto another figure. Students are then given problems with two figures on a coordinate plane and asked to determine if the figures are congruent, describing the transformations that map the first figure onto the second. If students need more targeted practice on transformations, have them complete the Translations on the Coordinate Plane, Reflections on the Coordinate Plane, and Rotations on the Coordinate Plane worksheets first!
