Worksheet
Identify Declarative and Interrogative Sentences
Differentiate between declarative and interrogative sentences with this worksheet for third, fourth, and fifth graders! Students will begin by reviewing the definitions of declarative and interrogative sentences. Then, for each of 12 sentences, learners must identify which type of sentence it is and write the correct ending punctuation.
This one-page practice sheet helps upper elementary students develop an understanding of two common sentence types and the purpose behind them. Learners can apply their knowledge of sentence types in their writing to convey meaning and emotion, which helps to engage audiences. These concepts will build on learners’ understanding of sentence structure and pave the way for more complex grammar lessons.
For additional support, students can refer to Handout: Declarative, Interrogative, Imperative, and Exclamatory Sentences.
