Worksheet
Identify Subject and Predicate
Pull apart sentences in this worksheet on parts of speech! Students can first read an introduction that explains the difference between the subject, or naming part, and predicate, or action part, of a sentence. Then, students will read 12 sentences, circling the complete subject and underlining the complete predicate in each one.
This worksheet was designed for first and second graders learning about the elements that make up a sentence. A strong understanding of subjects and predicates supports students as they write their own complete sentences.
