Identify the types of syllables in words like season, carpet, and sunshine with this helpful worksheet! To begin, students will read brief definitions of vowel team syllables, r-controlled syllables, and silent e syllables. Then, learners are shown 11 two-syllable words, each of which has at least one syllable underlined. Students must determine which of the three syllable types is being shown in each word and check the correct column.

Designed for second and third graders, this worksheet will give students the chance to review three common types of syllables. Recognizing which type of syllable a word uses will help students correctly read the vowel sound in new or unfamiliar words.
