Worksheet
Inherited Traits: It Runs in the Family
How are you similar to your parents? Find out which traits you inherited from your mother and father in this worksheet! First, students will fill in the chart with traits of themselves and their parents, such as hair color, eye color, and handedness. They’ll write the traits that they got from each parent. Then, they’ll write a trait they have that is different from both of their parents and think about who in their family might have passed this trait down to them.
Use this worksheet to help first and second graders better understand the concept of inherited traits. Learners can reinforce their knowledge that young animals are similar to, but not exactly the same as, their parents. This activity can help prepare students to learn more about heredity and genetics in the future!
