Worksheet
Introduction to the Electoral College
Invite learners to explore the origin and function of the Electoral College with this introductory civics and government worksheet! Students will first read a one-page passage to learn about why the Electoral College exists and the role it plays in electing the president. Then, on page 2, learners will answer several comprehension questions based on their reading. In addition to answering text comprehension questions, learners will apply their understanding to an imaginary election to explain the "winner-take-all" system in action.
Featuring a map of the United States and important vocabulary terms such as popular vote, electoral vote, and winner-take-all, this two-page social studies worksheet is a great resource to help middle school students take their election knowledge to the next level.
