Worksheet

Make Ten to Add Using Empty Ten Frames

Build up your addition skills in this model-making addition worksheet! In each of these six problems, students will be asked to draw the two addends as dots in the ten frames. They will first make ten, then draw the additional dots in the second ten frame. Finally, they will write the sum of the problem to finish each number sentence.

This worksheet was designed for young mathematicians in first grade. The ten frames provide a visual element that can help students understand the concept of making ten in addition. As they practice, students can build their number sense and gain confidence breaking apart and recombining numbers to make addition easier.
