Missing Factor Mystery: Multiply With Strip Models
Track down missing factors in this multiplication worksheet for third and fourth graders! Each strip model contains the product, but it’s missing its factors. Learners must use the strip model to figure out the two missing factors, then write a multiplication sentence to match.
Strip models visualize multiplication as repeated addition, which can help students understand what it means to multiply. Strip models also reinforce the part/whole relationship between a product and its factors, which can assist learners as they begin to divide numbers. As students become more comfortable with multiplication facts within 100, they can begin working with larger numbers in more complex equations.
