Worksheet

Mixed Up Beginning Sounds

Look, listen, and spell it right—you can do it! Young learners will practice identifying beginning sounds to complete simple words in this hands-on activity. Students will look at each picture, say its name out loud, and listen carefully for the first sound. Then, they'll cut and paste the correct letter from the bottom of the page to match the picture to finish the word.

This activity was made with kindergarten and first-grade students in mind to strengthen their phonemic awareness. When learners can hear and recognize sounds in words, it helps build a strong foundation for spelling, reading, and writing success.
