Onomatopoeia Practice: A Day at the Park

Can you hear the dogs barking and the birds chirping in the park? In this worksheet, students will be asked to complete nine sentences about the park by circling the onomatopoeia that best fits the context. Then, they will need to identify the onomatopoeia in each of four additional sentences. 

This worksheet for third through fifth graders is a great choice for giving students practice with a wide range of onomatopoeic words. As students see more of this form of figurative language, they can become more adept at recognizing it in texts they read and using it in their own writing.
