Paint a Picture With Words: Day at the Beach

There’s an ocean of sensory details you can use in your writing! In this worksheet, students will be asked to imagine that they are at the beach on a hot summer afternoon and write down sensory words that might help describe the scene using all five senses. Then, learners will rewrite three simple sentences using plenty of sensory details to bring the scenes to life.

This worksheet was designed for third, fourth, and fifth graders learning about ways they can make their writing more vivid and interesting. Students can practice drawing on not only sight and hearing for descriptive details, but also including elements of touch, smell, and even taste.
