Worksheet
Phonemic Awareness: Segmenting
Practice isolating beginning, middle, and ending sounds in this phonics worksheet! Students will be asked to listen to an adult read out each of the 10 one-syllable words. They'll need to tell the beginning, middle, and ending sounds they hear in the words, making sure to isolate the distinct sounds of vowels and consonants. Adults will check off each sound students get right and write down the sounds for each mistake.
This worksheet was designed for a first-grade curriculum and is a great way to help students understand how words break apart into individual letter sounds. While learners may be familiar with the alphabet, this worksheet can allow them to put their knowledge into context by showing letters coming together to form whole words.
