Properties of Exponents: Are They Equal?

Evaluate if exponent expressions are equivalent in this eighth-grade worksheet! Students will review each pair of expressions to determine whether they are equal or not equal to one another. There are 18 pairs in all to evaluate, allowing students to review the product of powers, quotient of powers, power of a power, zero exponent, and negative exponent properties.

This worksheet will reinforce the properties of exponents and allow students to practice evaluating expressions with exponents. Learners will also work with variable bases, setting the stage for more complex variable expressions. As young mathematicians become more confident with exponents, they can begin to solve multi-step and multi-variable equations.
