Properties of Exponents With Variable Bases: Fill in the Blank #1

Experiment with exponent equations in this excellent eighth-grade worksheet! In each of these 18 problems, students will be presented with exponent equations involving multiplication, division, or the power of powers. All exponents have a base of x. Using the product of powers, quotient of powers, and power of a power properties, students will need to find the missing exponent that makes each equation true.

This worksheet was designed to give students practice with basic exponent rules. As students learn how to deal with exponents whose bases are a common variable, they will be better equipped to approach difficult algebra problems and simplify equations with variables.
