Reading a Timeline: Dr. Mae Jemison

Learn about Dr. Mae Jemison, the first Black woman to go to space, in this middle-grade worksheet! Students will read a timeline that highlights seven key events in Dr. Jemison’s life. Learners must then answer five questions about the order, timing, and significance of her accomplishments.

This worksheet will build students’ skills in reading and analyzing timelines. Students must be able to navigate and understand the information within a timeline, as they are frequently used in history lessons to show the order of events. The reflection questions will also prompt students to think about the lasting impact of historical events and contributions.
