Reading Nonfiction: Tornado

Get swept up into the fascinating world of tornadoes in this nonfiction passage! Students will read about how air temperature causes tornadoes to form in the midst of a storm. They’ll also read about how tornadoes can cause massive damage and how people prepare and stay safe while a tornado passes.

Use this worksheet to help third- and fourth-grade students build their reading comprehension skills. They can get more familiar with the language and structure of informational passages while also learning more about a fascinating (and dangerous) natural phenomenon.
