Realistic Fiction Writing Assessment

Flex your creative muscles with this realistic fiction writing assessment! Students will start by picking one of two prompts: playing in a championship game or discovering a secret talent. Learners are then asked to write a realistic fiction story, including characters, a clear setting, a problem or conflict, details, and a solution. 

This fourth-grade assessment provide students a chance to highlight their creative writing skills. Students can add details, create compelling characters, practice organization, and build vocabulary, all of which help to strengthen a piece of writing. The attached rubric will guide educators in evaluating students' grammar, plot structure, consistency, and character development, allowing students to reflect on their strengths and their areas of improvement.
