Worksheet

Rhyme or No Rhyme? #3

It's time to rhyme with this engaging early literacy worksheet! In this activity, learners will have 10 opportunities to look at a pair of pictures (such as a goat and coat) and determine if the two words rhyme. Young learners will have a blast saying the words out loud, then coloring the smiling face if the two words rhyme and the frowning face if they do not.

This visual worksheet was designed to help preschoolers through first graders build their phonemic awareness, the foundation of reading and spelling. Practicing how to hear rhymes in words helps learners develop the sound-awareness and pattern-recognition skills needed to become confident readers and writers.

For more rhyming practice, have learners complete the first two worksheets in this series—Rhyme or No Rhyme? #1 , Rhyme or No Rhyme? #2,—or these other related activites: Tic-Tac-Toe: Rhyming Words, and End of Year Assessment Phonemic Awareness: Rhyming Words.
