Rhyming Short I Words

Does rip rhyme with fish or zip? In this worksheet, students will read each word in a group of three aloud, then circle the two words that rhyme. Each word is a short i word and will follow a CVC, CCVC, or CVCC pattern.

Created for kindergarteners, this activity will help young readers develop phonological awareness. Rhyming can encourage students to identify letter patterns and letter sounds, which are both important in promoting early literacy. These skills are also important for students to be able to decode longer words.
