Long and Short Vowels: "I"
The "I's" have it! And your child will soon have a firm grasp on the short and long "I" sounds. This worksheet presents kids with a group of pictures to cut out. Each picture is an object with a short or long "I" sound. Kids say the name for each picture, then glue the short "I" pictures next to the fish and the long "I" pictures next to the spider. Learning to distinguish between short and long vowel sounds is an important phonics skill for emergent readers.
