Worksheet

Sort Syllable Types: Vowel Team, R-Controlled, and Silent E

Test your knowledge of three different syllable types in this helpful worksheet! Students will first read descriptions and examples of vowel team syllables, r-controlled syllables, and silent e syllables. Then, they will sort and write 15 words into categories based on which syllable type they have.

Intended for second and third graders, this worksheet is a great way to help students recognize different syllable types in multisyllabic words. This activity can also improve students’ understanding of phonics and boost their ability to break down and decode unfamiliar words.
