Worksheet

Spot the Lab Safety Problems

Make sure your young scientists stay safe as they conduct experiments! In this worksheet, students will look at a picture of a science classroom in which many lab safety violations are happening. Students will circle nine examples of safety problems. Then, they’ll write nine safety rules for a science lab.

Use this worksheet to get fourth through seventh graders thinking deeply about lab safety. As learners identify common lab safety violations on their own, they can determine why each violation makes the lab unsafe. They can also remember the rules they’ll need to follow in their own lab. This activity can be used as an introduction or reinforcement for lab safety procedures, which are vital for all science labs.
