Spring Spelling Words: Dot the Sounds

Let your phonics skills blossom as you complete this first- and second-grade worksheet! Using six words from a spring spelling list, learners will figure out how many sounds are in each word. Students are then directed to use a dot marker or crayon to fill in the corresponding number of flowers. Finally, learners will write the word on the line next to the flowers. 

This hands-on worksheet will strengthen young readers’ phonological awareness as they identify the phonemes that create each word. Breaking a word down into its individual sounds can help students become stronger spellers and readers.
