Worksheet
Thermal Energy Transfer: Soccer Jersey Decisions
Use science to decide on the best jersey color for a professional soccer team! Students will read about an experiment designed to test the temperature change of three different jersey colors when put under a lamp. Students will calculate the rate of temperature change for each color. Then, they’ll explain how light caused the temperature of the jerseys to change and describe which jerseys absorbed the most and least amount of light. Finally, they’ll decide which jersey to recommend for the soccer team!
This worksheet was designed to give students practice analyzing data from an experiment and drawing conclusions based on that data. Students will use evidence and data to make decisions and recommendations. They can also learn more about how light energy is converted to thermal energy and how an object’s color affects this conversion.
