Where Is the Water on Earth?

Water covers 70% of Earth’s surface—but where exactly is it? In this worksheet, fifth graders will study two graphs: one that shows the amount of salt water and fresh water, and one that shows where Earth’s fresh water is found. Then, young scientists will answer questions to explain the graphs and make inferences.

This activity will help students understand the different roles of water in Earth’s surface processes. Learners will also practice interpreting graphs, which is a vital skill as students dive deeper into scientific research and data reporting.
