Worksheet
Which Animal Can Live in This Habitat? Tide Pools
Learn more about a tide pool habitat with this life science worksheet! Learners will begin by writing a few sentences about a tide pool. Is it hot, cold, wet, dry, grassy, or sandy? Then, students are asked to consider the needs of a starfish, a blue whale, and a hermit crab. Young scientists will determine if each animal could or could not live in a tide pool and explain why.
This worksheet shows how the unique needs of an animal can be met by its habitat. Second and third graders can sharpen their critical thinking abilities as they consider each animal’s needs and decide whether or not a tide pool meets those needs. Learners will also get to explain their reasoning, which is a beneficial skill for future scientific writing.
