Worksheet
Which Plant Can Live in This Habitat? Grassland
Decide which plants could live in a grassland with this second- and third-grade worksheet! First, learners will describe a grassland. Is it hot, cold, wet, dry, grassy, or sandy? Then, students will read a short paragraph about how the various needs of plants are met by their habitats. Lastly, scientists will reflect on the needs of a sunflower, water lily, and wheatgrass to determine whether or not they could live in a grassland.
This worksheet will prompt students to think critically about how plants interact with their habitats. While plants all need water, light, nutrients, and space, plants need different amounts, and their habitats need to provide for each one in order for a plant to survive. Learners will also practice presenting evidence and making claims, both of which are fundamental for scientific research.
