Word Family Homes: Short u

Decorate these short u-themed homes by deciding what belongs in each word family! Each home represents a short u word family, such as -ub or -un. Students will look at the pictures in each home and circle the two items that belong to the word family. 

This kindergarten and first-grade worksheet will familiarize students with word families that use the short u sound. Early readers will grow their phonemic awareness as they isolate and segment parts of these words. This worksheet will also prompt learners to recognize that the words within each word family rhyme.
