Level up your writing with this game-themed appositive worksheet! For the first half of the exercise, students will write sentences about their favorite games that include essential or nonessential appositives. In the second half, learners are asked to write sentences that include appositive phrases. Students can write about board games, video games, tabletop games, or outdoor games!

Appositives help middle-grade learners add detail and clarity to their writing while providing sentence variety. Writing with appositives will also reinforce the difference between essential and non-essential information as students determine whether or not the appositive needs to be set off with commas.
