Worksheet

Writing About Wants and Needs

Water is a need, but what about a coat or a puzzle? This practice prompts second and third graders to determine whether each item listed is a want or a need, then provide their reasoning. Then, to apply the knowledge, learners will write down a want and need of their own, explaining each answer.

This worksheet is a helpful resource to reinforce the concept of wants and needs, which will come in handy as students begin budgeting and saving money. This activity also builds critical thinking abilities and allows students to practice informational writing, both of which are important skills to have both inside and outside of the classroom.
