X Marks the Spot! Island Treasure

Go on an adventure to uncover the island treasure in this engaging coloring worksheet! Students will be presented with a map key that shows some symbols they will use to fill in different features of the map, such as palm trees, waves, and an X for the treasure. They’ll also need to come up with two of their own symbols to indicate additional features on their island map. 

This worksheet was designed for first and second graders learning to interpret and create simple maps. Students can practice connecting a map of a landscape to the symbols indicated in the map key. This activity is a great, fun way to prepare students to learn more about maps and geography in the future.
