Button Art

What You Need:

  • White buttons
  • Red paper
  • Pencil
  • White glue
  • Picture frame

What You Need:

  1. Help your young crafter draw a heart on thered  paper.  Make sure the heart is fairly small unless you have a large number of buttons.
  2. Have her arrange the buttons to fill in the heart.  She should start at the base of the heart, placing one button on the “point” and working her way toward the top of the shape.
  3. Remember, the goal is to fill in the entire heart and cover as much of the line as possible.  Encourage your child to swap buttons around to fill in as much of the space as she can.  That said, there really isn’t a wrong way to do this so let her take the lead if she seems to have a plan.
  4. Once she has a layout that works well, help her glue down the buttons one at a time.
  5. Allow the glue to dry.
  6. To display, slip her button art into a small picture frame.
