Activity
Focusing on the Good Each Day
Taking time to reflect and write about when we have each been at our best can help us grow in all areas of life! In this social emotional learning activity, your child will design and create their own Best Self Journal to reflect on ways they have been their best each day. By recognizing and focusing on the good each day, children can begin to develop self-confidence, self-awareness, and the ability to recognize their own strengths
What You Need:
- Best Self Journal worksheet
- Composition book
- Magazine clippings or printed images
- Markers or colored pencils
What You Do:
- Have your child describe one moment today when they were at their best, and ask them what they think it means to be your "best self."
- Ask your child, "How does it feel to think of a time you were at your best? Why would it be important to reflect on these moments each day?"
- Tell your child that today, you will be creating Best Self Journals together.
- Review the Best Self Journal worksheet, and model each step for your child.
- Together, decorate your journals.
- Practice daily reflection together to share about and affirm your best selves!
