Veterans Day, which occurs in the United States on November 11th every year, is the perfect opportunity to teach your child to honor the brave men and women who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces. This simple craft is a great way to have your kid work on her drawing skills and put her vocabulary to the test too! First your kid will create an image of a man or woman in the military, and then she'll label her picture with words she associates with military personnel.

What You Need:
- Construction paper
- Markers
- Oil pastels (or crayons)
- Pencil
What You Do:
- Ask your child to draw a picture of a member of the U.S. Military in uniform. Take this opportunity to discuss the branches of the military and the variations in their uniforms.
- Have her write words she would associate with someone who has served or is currently serving in the armed forces. She can write them in pencil and then outline them with marker. Some examples of words she may come up with are: brave, heroic, strong, respectful and loyal.
- Encourage her to share her picture with a veteran, or hang it somewhere that a veteran might see it.
