What Does It Mean To Be Caring?
Caring for ourselves and others can build connections and a greater sense of love. In this social emotional learning activity, your child will discuss what it means to be caring and to care for others. They will draw a picture that shows them caring for others and then choose two kind and caring deeds to perform. Designed with kindergarten and first grade learners in mind, What Does It Mean To Be Caring? will help children build empathy, as well as important decision-making skills.
What you need:
- Caring Choice Board worksheet
- Drawing/coloring materials
What you do:
- Ask your child, "What does it mean to be caring? Who are some people that care for you in your life? Who do you care for?"
- Ask, "How does it feel to share kindness and care with others?"
- Ask your child to draw a picture of someone who is showing care and kindness on their worksheet.
- Ask them to describe what is happening in their picture.
- Review the second page of the Caring Choice Board worksheet with your child. Invite them to brainstorm additional ways they might show care for others or themselves.
