L.5.4.A Lesson Plans

CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.L.5.4.A

:
"Use context (e.g., cause/effect relationships and comparisons in text) as a clue to the meaning of a word or phrase."

Our Take: Fifth graders can learn new words and phrases by figuring out their meanings using context clues. For many students, retaining information comes easier using this method than learning standard definitions of new words. When reading advanced texts with students, stop to help them deduce the meaning of any words that are new to them.

These lesson plans can help students practice this Common Core State Standards skill.
