First grade geometry covers basic shapes, as well as an introduction to 3D shapes. Our team of curriculum experts designed the following guided lesson, which provides an overview of first grade geometric concepts and gives kids lots of opportunities for practice. Geometry 3

This guided geometry lesson takes second graders on an exploration of 2D and 3D shapes. Kids will learn how to sort shapes, as well as partition them into halves, quarters and thirds. Tangrams are also featured within the exercise in order to give kids practical ways of practicing their new geometry skills. Geometry 4

Fourth graders will discover the building blocks of geometry in this unit: points, lines, line segments and rays. Students will explore the properties of different shapes, including symmetry, parallel and perpendicular lines, and 900 angles. Students will apply their understanding as they learn to sort shapes based on these properties.

Geometry 6

Geometry in third grade introduces kids to the idea that shapes have different categories (rectangles, rhombuses, etc..) attributes (four-sided, etc...) and areas of different values. This lesson, designed by our curriculum experts, provides the guided instruction and practice that third graders need to conceptualize shapes in a deeper way. Geometry 5

This geometry unit engages students in analytical thinking as they learn about the properties of two dimensional figures and consider the different ways they can be sorted based on those properties. Students also learn to plot points, lines and shapes on a coordinate graph.

Geometry 7

Geometry in kindergarten involves the basics of measurement, shapes, and spatial reasoning. Designed and reviewed by teachers, this guided lesson gives kids an overview of these concepts with clear instruction and engaging exercises. Geometry practice in kindergarten can help bolster the skills needed for higher-level concepts in the later grades.
