Classifying figures by features is a fundamental geometry skill. Use this lesson plan to teach your students how to categorize triangles by internal angle types.

You'll see angles from every angle! Students will describe and compare different angles they see in everyday situations. Use this lesson on its own or use it as support to the lesson Classifying Triangles by Internal Angles.

Teach your students about symmetry with real life objects! Have them draw lines of symmetry for various shapes, food items, and objects.

Symmetry is everywhere, but it's often hard to notice. This lesson explores a few ways to identify it. By folding and making mirror images for different shapes, students will discover a new world of symmetrical figures.

Students will have fun engaging in activities that develop their ability to write sequential step-by-step directions. This lesson helps young learners with being detailed and using transition words in their writing.

Teach your students to find the perimeter of polygons using real world examples. They will make polygon pictures using tangrams and practice finding the perimeters of the polygons in their masterpieces.

In this lesson, your students will use their auditory, visual, and kinetic skills to learn about angles. Students will use their artistic and linguistic abilities to learn about angles and lines.

Beyond just prefix identification, this meaty lesson taps into your students’ thinking. Using a combination of analogies, constructing, and deconstructing words with prefixes, students will learn the meaning and mechanics of prefixes.

Show your students how coordinate planes can be useful in seeing the distance between various locations! Have them draw shapes on a coordinate plane and determine the location of corners.

Explore the beauty of Navajo rug weaving with this lesson that integrates indigenous culture, math and art. Students will learn and practice symmetry and create a design in the tradition of the Navajo rug pattern called “Two Grey Hills”.

This lesson helps your students become confident mathematicians when it comes to representing fractions visually in a variety of ways. Use this lesson as a pre-lesson to Fraction Hunt or teach it independently.
