Are They Synonyms?

Are jump and hop synonyms? What about tiny and huge? In this worksheet, second graders will read each pair of words and determine whether or not they are synonyms. There are 12 pairs in all for students to figure out!

This activity prompts young readers to think about the meaning of words. Students must compare the meanings of each word and figure out how they relate to one another, which will help learners strengthen their vocabulary and critical thinking skills. Being able to identify synonyms can also encourage students to use a wider variety of words in their own writing.
