Atomic Puzzle: Fill in the Gaps

Crunch the atomic numbers of different elements in this worksheet! Students will read a brief introduction that reminds them what an element’s atomic number, atomic mass, and mass number mean. Then, they will use a periodic table to help them fill in the blank spaces of a table that shows different elements’ atomic numbers, mass numbers, and numbers of subatomic particles. Finally, learners will need to identify the atomic model that represents carbon and explain their answer. 

This middle school worksheet is intended to help students solidify their understanding of what the numbers on the periodic table mean. Students can practice using these numbers to calculate the number of each subatomic particle an element, isotope, or atom has.
