Escape the Category: Unrelated Words

In this creative vocabulary activity, your goal is to be “wrong” on purpose! Students will be challenged to come up with seven words that don’t fit into six categories, such as “at a birthday party” and “things you can wear.” Each word students write needs to start with the provided letters. 

This activity is a great choice for students in fourth, fifth, and sixth grade. Learners will need to draw on their vocabulary skills and critical thinking to come up with words that fit—or don’t fit—the categories.
