Worksheet
Making a Grid Map: At the Amusement Park
Map out each attraction at the amusement park in this hands-on worksheet! Second and third graders will begin by cutting out the map squares on the first page. Then, students must read the clues on the second page, each of which uses coordinates or cardinal directions. As learners read the clues, they will paste the squares down to build their map!
By learning to read maps, students can better understand and move through the world around them. Starting with grid maps can lay the foundation for interpreting more complex maps in the future, whether students are analyzing a historical map or using a map to navigate an event.
