Making a Grid Map: In the City

Find your way through a bustling city with this hands-on map worksheet! First, learners will cut out each square of the grid map on page 1. Then, using the clues and blank map on page 2, students will paste each map section into its correct space. The clues use coordinates and cardinal directions to guide students as they build the map.

Created for second and third graders, this activity will provide practice with reading, navigating, and creating maps. Familiarity with grid maps will prepare students for using and interpreting more detailed maps, both in the classroom and in the real world.

Keep practicing with Making a Grid Map: At the Amusement Park or Making a Grid Map: Around the Campgrounds.
