Read and Respond: Character Development

Use analysis skills to better understand your favorite character in this worksheet! Students will select a main character from a book they are reading or have read. They’ll come up with words that describe the character’s personality and appearance, then answer questions to help them describe the challenges the character faces and the way they change from the beginning to the end of the story. Then, they’ll use their answers to write a paragraph that introduces the main character and the way they change in the story.

This worksheet provides scaffolded practice that supports third, fourth, and fifth graders as they embark on their literary analysis journey.
