Sort and Spell: Short o Word Families

Sort and spell short o words like dog, cot, and hop in this word family worksheet! To start, students will cut out each of eight images at the bottom of the page. Then, they will glue each picture into the correct word family: -op, -og, or -ot. Lastly, young learners will write each word on the line next to the image.

This kindergarten and first-grade worksheet is a helpful way for students to build phonological awareness. Learners must isolate the rime of each word to identify words in the same word family. By spelling each word, students will also sharpen their encoding skills, which is fundamental for early literacy.
