Word Family Homes: Short o

Do some housekeeping and kick out the words that don’t belong in this word family worksheet! Students will look at six houses that each represent a short o word family like -ob, -ock, and -op. The houses each have three pictures representing words. Learners will need to decide which pictures belong in the houses and which do not. This worksheet includes short words like clock, top, and pot. 

This worksheet was designed for kindergartners and first graders learning to identify patterns in words and break short words into sounds. Students can build their phonemic awareness by using isolation and segmentation. They’ll also practice using word families to identify rhyming words.
